Work in progress
Here are various test experiments to explore process and media:
Experiment 1
Process:
Acrylic/PVA Adhesive applied onto wood board with long paint and scattered chopsticks, drizzled another layer of PVA to solidify them onto the surface and painted with gold leaf/enamel on the tips. This was very much the whole revival and discovery of the wonderful pairings of the basic primary colours that everyone is familiar with from their school days. Abstract expressionism and energy dance together flowing into a river of chopstick fishes and tinted waters. A representation of what liberation is and feels like, a pure moment of happiness. This was inspired by the work of Kandinsky and his diagnosis of the condition 'Synesthesia' this gifted him with abilities that he couldn't fathom or comprehend and eventually evolved and translated into these fascinating and in the moment responses to complexed, intrinsically composed pieces of music. I am satisfied with the overall arrangement and composition of this piece.
Evaluation:
In terms of describing what this means to someone outside of my head. I would say that this was the panicle point for me when growing an evolving this project. The freedoms of expression with paint and surface knows no bounds. There are several avenues and areas you can go into with paint and the combination of PVA Adhesive only makes the material stronger, more durable, long lasting and easy to work with and the possibilities of Art making are endless.
Experiment 2
Process:
This was the next stage of development where i was thinking of a way to use something that already exists similar to Marcel Duchamp and his idea of using something readymade and exhibiting it in a gallery space, this of course caused a load of uproar at the time and became a very controversial topic of discussion at the time.
I think it was because the concept of that was incomprehensible for people to understand. Viewers perceived that as something that should be seen and not heard like a child and put away in a cupboard somewhere, never to be seen again because they were so shocked and appalled the whole thing. Duchamp's 'readymade' urinal ended up being hidden in a separate room and didn't make the cut due the response it got.
This relates to me because I am using something that is considered as natural and part of our landscape and harnessing/enhancing the overall visual appeal and look by using Adhesive mixed with Acrylic paint which gives it that glossy finish and embellishes and glorifies and glamourizes something that was quite boring and ordinary in my view.

Evaluation:
This is a concept I have continued to use, while experimenting with synthetic fake looking materials and finishes. How I see it is you essentially as individual decide what you truth is because when it comes down to it nobody can see what you see. Your vision is unique and your own. When I am describing what my concept actually is, the lyrics from Bastille Doomed Days comes to mind "There must be something in the Kool- Aid, Cruising through the doom days, God knows what is real and what is fake." I interoperate this as the world is like a big magnetized forcefield that contains us, a huge percentage of it has been taken over by technology which is run by AI's, so we now can't tell the difference between what is real and what is fake anymore. Humans are becoming an unnecessary and useless, pointless species to remain on the earth. We are losing our sense of purpose and our actual abilities so somewhere in the future humans will be replaced because we are no longer required or fit for purpose, every one of us is replaceable and can easily be removed from the atmosphere and environment. The idea that everything can replaced, regrown, re-born, re-imagined, re-evolved and the cycle continues.
Process: This was simply and experiment, done by the application of enamel/gold leaf and the three primary colours that are the vanilla essence in my cake batter of mixed mixed media and materials. This word materialistic comes to mind when I look at this because to be a materialistic person is to only have the interest in things that hold a huge amount of value and status, such a designer with a big name such as Vivienne Westwood, she is a name you are paying for, because she has literally paid for her ideas to be released into the world in the form of clothing or accessories, made in bulk, usually in big factories so that the production line is happening and continuing through a quick process.
Evaluation:
A sample is a good way to describe this, because this represents a miniature version of what my larger adaption of my Final Piece will look like. This is a creative way to get my visual ideas onto paper, from my mind and projecting that onto the page, mimicked with hand movements and large gestural, sequenced marks and this is the final entry.
Process:
Mondrian in a word influences and confirms the way in which I work on paper as artist. His lines and the compositions through mark making, gives me an idea of a roadmap and how to sort of navigate the method and way in which you order or arrange something. When I describe the way I approach the use of media and materials, I imagine myself walking through a maze deciding whether to go left or right, down many paths and getting to lots of dead ends before reaching the Centre. I invest my time and energy into the whole process of making an work of art. I value expression, reactions/responses and feeling/emotion/connectivity. Comparing this to my own processes and sampling when configuring how to put something together.
