Work in progress

Here are various test experiments to explore process and media: Experiment 1 Process:  Acrylic/PVA Adhesive applied onto wood board with long paint and scattered chopsticks, drizzled another layer of PVA to solidify them onto the surface and painted with gold leaf/enamel on the tips. This was very much the whole revival and discovery of the wonderful pairings of the basic primary colours that everyone is familiar with from their school days. Abstract expressionism and energy dance together flowing into a river of chopstick fishes and tinted waters. A representation of what liberation is and feels like, a pure moment of happiness. This was inspired by the work of Kandinsky and his diagnosis of the condition 'Synesthesia' this gifted him with abilities that he couldn't fathom or comprehend and eventually evolved and translated into these fascinating and in the moment responses to complexed, intrinsically composed pieces of music. I am satisfied with the overall arrangement an

Mannequin Concept Layered Into Wood And Natural Forms Bringing the natural and aesthetic world together. I have always been fascinated in nature and how we take it upon ourselves as humans to take great pleasure in removing it from its natural environment and essentially using these materials that are not ours to take in the first place and repurposing them as pieces of furniture/interiors. This changes them into something to be desired and an asset or object to collect and admire from the comfort of your living space. However, nature in my opinion should remain as nature as it is not something to destroy and make into something else or a necessity.  I use my creative imagination and give myself permission to play with the world through my own personal lens. I am similar to Liz West who is an artist I have followed whilst studying Art, and she is   somebody who is a huge inspiration to me and influences the work that I create. In particular the Liz West Trolley series kickstarted my f

FMP Inspiration

FMP Inspiration  ASD Creativity- It is about tapping into my creativity and not allowing society to decide who I am as an individual and a space where I can be undeniably myself without having to apologize. Generally people have no awareness or any understanding of how day to day life impacts on or affects me as an ASD individual on the spectrum. The spectrum colours the world in a different light. The emotions that you feel, I'm feeling ten times the intensity. Experiences that you have and struggle to recover from, I won't be able to recover for twice as long. Having ASD is constantly not fitting into a world that I perceive often as saying 'you don't belong here with us, you're built different. We are what we are and don't want you to dye/colour our lives. You make our lives more challenging and we don't need to accept you or understand you because we had zero interest in you to begin with.' At every stage of my life whether I was aware or not, in on

Exploring and developing ideas/concepts around my Theme of  'Musicality and Fluidity'  Themes of child/adult behaviors and ways of navigating life and comparing the differences between characteristics/traits. Using wood as a solid foundation to build upon. Looking at colours and meanings behind colours and what they initially spark in us and resonate in our minds. Do we reminice or hang our heads down low? Making connections between a feeling and the triggers causing them to be released. I had the thought of merging my ideas together in the form of wood and a series of bodies allowing their bodies and souls to dance around the campfire seeing each other encased in the flames. This is a joyous and freeing experience that we all have and will take part in at least once in our lives. Each person holds a different memory in relation to a bonfire. The flames ignite the endorphins within you which rushes to the surface like fluid river rapids.  There is fun to be had here along with

Colourful log Artist reference- Katharina Grosse  Acrylic on wood, Ombre hues Experimenting with primary colors and alternate surfaces to paint onto. Exploring color theory and the color wheel, aesthetic of color.   This artist was the first name that came into my head when I was painting on the log because of her loose expressive spray painting using trees. The inspiration also came from Kandinsky and his synesthesia and ability to paint colors/shapes when listening to music. Me wearing my blue coat, shadow and light, color exploring, primary colour.  Julian Woodcock- Primary Colours   Katrina Grosse- Abstract, spray painted, blocked into one corner of the space, an explosion and expression of colour, presence and movement. This artist is very relatable in terms of my work and hers. We both use an abstract approach and freedom of movement and fluidity within our methods and the way in which we use media/materials to enhance the experience and overall aesthetic look of paints overlaid
